Coffee that gives back

I love quaint little coffee shops, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out earlier this week that there is a new little coffee shop opening in Forsyth county (or FoCo as the locals call it). I could barely contain my excitement and felt the need to HAVE to share this news with everyone I knew and their brother. The average person might wonder why I have the need to “HAVE” to share this and I’ll tell you why….this little coffee shop is just not a regular walk in or drive though coffee shop, this is a coffee shop that plans to actually give back, hence its name, Community Cup.

The plan is to buy products from local companies in the area such as local bakeries and coffee roasters and then to assist nearby non-profits, schools, and groups in raising funds for their causes. What a great idea and way to integrate into the community!

The owner, Jalynn Barr is very passionate Mom and cares greatly about the people are her. She serves on the Young Professional Leadership Council for CURE Childhood Cancer and has fought hard to bring others into the fight to help children with cancer. Very little money goes to childhood cancer research and Jalynn felt that this was a way for her to be able to get involved and give back.

Community Cup website is just off the square in downtown Cumming in the Cumming Station shopping center right next to Wildflower Eatery (which if you haven’t been there yet is also a fabulous little eating spot).

When I drove by yesterday to check it out, contractors were inside ferociously working and I was able to ask one of them when he thought they would be ready to open and he said in about a month. Stayed tuned for an update once I’m able to sit down relax and wrap my hands around a warm cup of coffee at Community Cup.
